Week 7 - TJ


The playtest went ok! We got good feedback and I see a road to us finishing the game, I have a list of things to adjust based on what we learned, its mainly do to making things clearer or more aparent to the player as people kept missing things.

I did hear some nice feedback based on the UI and people liked it, based off people not noticing things we thought it best not to use the smaller version of the UI I made, and in hindsight we didnt think it was too big.

my to do list is:

  • make reload on gun clearer (animation)
  • logo
  • new reticle
  • make powerups gaining clearer (animated, change icons)
  • animate health bar

From the list I made a new reticle that fits the game more. It is now pixilated, I had to seperate the inside and outside of it as the outside of the reticle will show how far along your reloading is. The reticle will be red in the actual game, but the sprite in white so the color can be edited in engine in unity.


To make the powerups clearer the plan now is to have a white circle behind it to indicate the time you have left, It will flash yellow when you firsrt pick it up to make it more obvious to the player they got it, there will be a transparent circle behind the white circle to make it sound out and more and a black outline to make it stand out more again.

Next is the final touches, I need to work on the animations for the gun and health bar. And then finally the logo for the game.
